Major changes to improve patient care at UK cannabis clinic

One of the UK’s most established cannabis clinics has announced some key changes as it takes steps to improve patients’ experience. 

Lyphe Clinic, formerly known as The Medical Cannabis Clinics, will be making some significant improvements after conducting an internal review of the business over the last few months.

The company has recently seen a change in leadership and is taking on board feedback from patients and employees in terms of how things could be improved.

In an email sent to existing patients on Monday 27 February, the clinic says its new leadership team will be focused on ‘delivering excellence’ and providing the ‘very best patient experience’.

It acknowledged the need for improvements to the management of its supply chain and stock levels and is working to ensure ‘consistent delivery’ of medication to patients. 

Lyphe was the first cannabis clinic established in the UK following the law change in 2018, with thousands of patients now prescribed cannabis-based medications through its services.

The clinic is also seeing the return of former advisors, Professor Mike Barnes and Hannah Deacon of Maple Tree Consultants, who spearheaded the legalisation of medicinal cannabis in the UK. 

In her role as an advisor, Ms Deacon will work with the clinic to lead new patient listening groups and forums, along with implementing complaints procedures to ensure the needs of patients are being met. 

Ms Deacon said it was encouraging that the clinic had recognised the need for improvements to be made.

 She commented: “I am very pleased to be helping Lyphe as an advisor. It is reassuring that the company recognises patient services can be improved, and I am now focused on helping them with all aspects of patient care going forward.”

Lyphe’s new management team comprises existing head of operations, Sophie Gamwell (Operations & Supply Chain), Dr Luisa Searle (Medical & Clinical), Andrew Tyler (Marketing & Digital Product) and Helen Gale (Governance & Regulatory). 

 The company has also appointed a new board of directors and a new CEO is expected to be announced over the coming weeks.
