The Channel Island will host an observational trial of the various strains available to patients.

The wheels are firmly in motion for an important medical cannabis pilot study to get underway on the island of Jersey.

The Channel Island will play host to an observational trial of the various strains already available on to patients.

According to a statement by Ryah Group, the pilot trial is being overseen by Medicann, a clinic which specialises in cannabis-based treatments.

The clinic already operates in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, three self-governing Crown Dependencies which are vying to become cannabis hubs near the shores of the larger UK market.

The study aims to ‘collect patient feedback on consumption of cannabis strains available on the island’.

Ryah Group has announced it will provide the dry herb inhalers that patients will use during the trial, while Aurora Europe, a subsidiary of Canadian-headquartered Aurora Cannabis, is one of the companies supplying strains.

Gregory Wagner, CEO of RYAH Group, said: “We are excited to be initiating our pilot program with Medicann in Jersey, which represents a unique, ‘ring-fenced’ environment for establishing potentially numerous studies on the efficacy of treatments using plant-based therapies.

“RYAH is pleased to contribute RYAH’s IoT devices and data platform and work with Medicann toward perfecting prescribing practices and dosing regimens.”
