How should cannabis policy be made when important questions about its effects remain unanswered? Experts will examine the issue at an event in Frankfurt this week.
Garvin Hirt, co-founder and CEO of German healthcare technology company Copeia, will join the panel Evidence or Ideology? Making Cannabis Policy Without Data at the Cannabis Health Symposium on Wednesday 4 November.
The discussion will ask what evidence politicians need before changing cannabis laws, how cities can help fill gaps in research and how doctors should make treatment decisions while that research is still developing.
Copeia develops tools that use artificial intelligence and patient data to support more personalised cannabis treatment. Mr Hirt brings a background in software development and communication design to the debate about how better information could improve care.
He will be joined by Professor Bernd Werse, a social scientist at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, and Dr Artur Schrörs, former head of Frankfurt’s drugs department.
The panel will also consider what can be learned from Frankfurt’s efforts to establish a regulated cannabis pilot.
The discussion begins at 11am local time.
