What can Germany learn from Europe’s other medical cannabis markets?

Lessons from medical cannabis markets across Europe will be explored at this week’s Cannabis Health Symposium in Frankfurt, with a focus on improving prescribing and patient care in Germany.

José Tempero, director of international medical affairs at Tilray Medical, a producer and supplier of medical cannabis, will join a panel examining what has worked elsewhere — and which mistakes could be avoided.

The discussion, Medical Cannabis in Europe: What Other Markets Can Teach German Practice, will cover how doctors choose suitable products, how pharmacists check prescriptions and how healthcare teams manage patients taking other medicines.

Mr Tempero will be joined by Dirk Heitepriem, president of the German Cannabis Industry Association (BvCW), and Nitin Makadia, Director of Clinical Service Development at The Digital Health Assurance Company.

Ahead of the event, Mr Tempero said he was “excited” to contribute to the discussion.

“The future of medical cannabis will be built through rigorous science, continuous education, and a shared commitment to patients,” he said.

The panel takes place at 3.40pm local time on Wednesday 4 November.
