Ever wondered how yoga and CBD could be used together to create a more rewarding wellness routine? The Potyque team share their top tips.
Yoga has long been a firm favourite in the wellness world, combining the strengthening properties of exercise and the stress relieving properties of meditation. Yoga is a great way to not only get your body moving, but look after your mind all at once. Pair this physical practice with the benefits of CBD and you have a winning partnership.
As CBD does not include the psychoactive drug found in marijuana, it is completely safe to use during exercise, especially in Yoga. You will still feel in full control of your body and be able to identify your body’s boundaries, so you don’t have to worry about not noticing when to pull back or when you can go a little deeper into the pose.
Let’s take a look at some of the benefits for combining yoga with CBD …
If you’ve ever been to a Yoga class, you’ll know that often the class starts with a short meditation to make sure you are completely relaxed and in tune with your body. When we add CBD into the mix, we deepen this connection with our physical selves and fully relax into our practice. Including CBD into your Yoga routine can help you to boost your focus and prevent your mind from wandering off to your to-do list.
Not only can CBD improve your immersion into your Yoga practice, but when you finish up and settle in for a peaceful savasana it can enhance the euphoric and energetic, natural ‘buzz’ we get after completing a yoga or exercise session.
It’s important to note that this ‘buzz’ is completely natural and most certainly legal. CBD oils, such as Potyque, containing less than 0.2 per cent THC, are of the highest, purest quality. This low level of THC means that we extract all the goodness from the plant, without any of the side effects or highs that accompany THC.
Aiding in deep stretches
A well-rounded yoga practice helps you warm up and stretch your entire body. CBD oil can help ease you into the practice, helping to relax our muscles.
When our muscles are completely relaxed, it’s much easier to get into those super bendy poses and vastly improve our form within our favourite Yoga positions. Of course, we want to be careful not to push ourselves too far, but by including CBD oil in our practice we can start to see progress much faster than without it and also potentially reduce any post-exercise inflammation.
Good for the body and good for the mind
As well as increased concentration, CBD Yoga is able to help us completely relax allowing us to relieve even more stress and tension from the body. Often this tension causes physical ailments that we start to notice when our stress levels are high, but Yoga helps us to wring out all that tension and prevent the most common physical side-effects of stress within the body. Adding CBD into the mix allows us to deepen that relaxation aiding in more efficient stress relief.
It’s not just the body that benefits from this increased tension relief though, the mind also benefits. From better and more restful sleep, to a potential decrease in anxiety and overthinking.
Combining these two powerhouses of wellbeing into one succinct routine can be the ultimate way to boost your wellness. Doing CBD Yoga may give you an instant feeling of calm, but long-term practice will show the most benefits to your overall health. If you’re worried about using CBD oil with Yoga, you can put your mind at ease.
Can I take my CBD on holiday?
UK brand Cannaray has put together a helpful guide to taking your CBD on holiday.
Travelling with cannabis-based products can be confusing, so UK brand Cannaray has put together a helpful guide to taking your CBD on holiday.
Even the well-known flying rules can be somewhat overwhelming. You can only take this much liquid, pack that much in your hand luggage, and make sure you empty this from your pockets first.
So, if you’re unsure whether you’re allowed to take CBD on a plane, you’re not alone; it’s a question we get asked often – especially when travel is on a summer high.
That’s why Cannaray CBD are getting to the bottom of all your jet-setting CBD questions. Can you take it on a flight? Can you put it in checked luggage? Here’s everything you need to know.
Can I take CBD oil through an airport in the UK?
In most cases, yes. CBD is allowed to be used in UK airports and on domestic flights, so you don’t have to be without your Bright Days CBD Oil Drops when hopping across the country.
However, if you’re travelling internationally, it’s important to know the rules and regulations for your destination. Most will let you take it through the airport, but there are exceptions to the rule.
We recommend contacting your flight provider and customs in advance of your trip, so you can make sure jet-setting with CBD is allowed in the country (or countries) you’re heading to.
Is it legal to take CBD products on a plane?
If you’re flying from the UK, you can take your CBD with you on a plane, as long as – again – your destination also allows you to carry CBD products.
For this, we recommend the trial-sized 10ml bottles of Bright Days CBD Oil Drops and Night-Time CBD Oil Drops, as they won’t take up much room in your hand luggage, and they’re within the liquid allowance.
Can I use CBD oil or gummies while on a flight?
Assuming you’re flying from the UK to a changeover and/or destination airport where CBD is allowed, you can enjoy your CBD oils or Bright Days CBD Gummies during your flight. The Bright Days CBD Capsules and CBD Muscle Balm are also allowed, so you can complete your whole routine in the cabin. That’s one way to pass the time.
Can I travel internationally with CBD?
Again, before you travel internationally, we recommend you check with your flight provider and customs whether CBD will be allowed at your destination, as well as any changeover countries. (This is important!)
Another thing to consider is the THC content; different countries have different laws for the amount of THC allowed in CBD, and you mustn’t go over these limits when you travel.
For example, in the UK, the limit is 0.2 per cent, while in the US it’s 0.3 per cent. To give you peace of mind, your safest bet is to opt for THC-free CBD products. At Cannaray, we triple lab test our CBD oils, CBD capsules and CBD gummies to ensure they’re THC-free, so you can shop with total confidence.
How should I pack my CBD products?
If you’re placing your CBD products in your checked luggage, you can pack them however you like. Team Cannaray tends to tuck them in a wash bag, so they’re easy to find after landing.
But if you’re taking them on the plane with you, we suggest putting them in a clear bag along with your liquids. All of our CBD essentials are within the liquid allowance, so you can take them right through security. Happy flying!
CBD: The difference between gummies, oil and capsules
With so many options to choose from, which one is right for you?
Not sure which method is right for you? Experts at Potyque CBD explain the difference between difference between gummies, oil and capsules.
When it comes to getting your daily dose of CBD we’re a big fan of oils, but they’re not the only way you can utilise the premium plant power of CBD.
The market continues to grow and with it, the range of CBD products. Some of the most common you’ll find on the shelves are gummies, capsules and of course, oils. However, with so many options to choose from, which one is the best? And what are the differences you need to be aware of when making that all-important decision?
When you were a kid you may have been encouraged to take a daily multi-vitamin disguised as a deliciously sweet gummy treat, well the same goes for modern CBD gummies. They take on the same form as our favourite gummy snacks but with an extra bonus of your CBD dose.
Some of the pros of getting your CBD dosage this way is that it’s super easy to measure out your dosage and you can grab them on the go. Something to be aware of though is that gummies are not currently as well researched or monitored as that of the CBD oil market, so it’s easy for some brands to make inconsistent gummies, meaning you may not get the exact dosage you think with each pack or even each gummy.
A good halfway point between CBD gummies and oils are the capsules. With the capsules, you’ll get a more traditional looking supplement, usually encased in a hard shell that needs to be taken with water. It means you get the convenience of the gummies but a more controlled dosage with each capsule.
The strength for CBD capsules should be clearly labelled on the packet and show you just how much CBD you get in each capsule, rather than an estimate per pack like you may find with CBD gummies.
We then come to the most common and popular form of CBD, the oil. One of the main reasons we love CBD oil so much compared to the other forms is its versatility. Although the novelty and convenience of taking a daily capsule or chewing on a tasty gummy may seem more appealing, CBD oil offers you a plethora of ways to get your daily dose.
Not only do CBD oils give you complete control over your dosage and make it easier to scale up or decrease your dosage, but they also allow you to get your CBD in a variety of forms, from a few drops in your morning coffee to simply popping under the tongue during your morning routine.
Which one should you choose?
Now we’ve had a look at all the options, how do we decide on which one to opt for? Well, the main answer is to start with your needs. Are you looking to simply try out CBD products when you feel like you need them? In which case gummies may be best for you, to give you a small dose of CBD when and where you feel you need it. If you already know exactly how much CBD you want to take daily and you’re looking for something quick and easy, then capsules may be the way to go.
For those that want full control over the dosage and want the ability to customise their CBD routine and journey overall, CBD oils are the perfect solution. Just remember to double-check the ingredients and the certificates, making sure you’re getting the most premium CBD oil for optimal results!

International Day of Yoga – five ways CBD can enhance your practice
Adding CBD to your practice could enhance the benefits for body and mind.
We need no excuse to celebrate the value of yoga, but adding CBD to your practice could enhance the benefits for body and mind.
The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014.
In recent years, yoga has become increasingly popular with the wellness tribe, who have cottoned onto its myriad of benefits for body and mind.
But the roots of the ancient practice can be traced back to Northern India over 5,000 years ago, where some say it originated from the Indus-Sarasvati civilisation.
Others have noted references to yoga between 500 BCE and 200 BCE, when the philological ideas of Hinduism and Buddhism were beginning to take shape.
While for serious practitioners yoga is a way of life – not just a work-out – it’s understandable that more of us are exploring the benefits of a vinyasa flow, given the relentless stressors of modern-day life.
Focusing on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost mental and physical health, not only is yoga great for soothing the mind in the short term, it also teaches participants how to address their anxiety in the longer term too.
But while the main reason many of us partake in yoga is to ease anxiety, it can be difficult to shake thoughts and feelings enough to allow us to fully commit to the practice.
This is where CBD comes in.
Yoga and cannabis have a long history. Cannabis is a sacred plant in India and has been smoked by Saddhus (wandering holy men) in conjunction with yoga practices for centuries.
Here are five benefits to adding a dose of CBD to your daily practice.
Reduce anxiety and heighten relaxation
Studies have found that CBD can reduce our anxiety levels and promote relaxation, as a result enhancing our yoga practice.
In a study from 2010, for example, subjects with social anxiety disorder were given CBD and tested using statistical parametric mapping (a method used to record brain activity). They showed lowered anxiety levels as well as significant activity in the brain areas associated with emotions and motivation.
Many people find that CBD helps them to switch off and relax at the end of the day, when better to give it a try than before a nourishing yoga session.
Help improve focus and concentration
Yoga is all about promoting awareness of the present moment, but it can be hard to focus when your mind is feeling overwhelmed with thoughts racing at 100mph.
By using CBD to decrease some of those anxious feelings, users will find it easier to clear their mind of negative thoughts, and to focus solely on the present moment.
While it is often touted as a sleep aid, at the right dose, CBD can improve energy levels and concentration and many find it helps ease brain fog, so you are able to tune in and focus on the flow.
Ease pain and inflammation
If you’ve always wanted to try yoga but struggled due to a pre-existing condition, CBD could be part of the solution to getting your practice underway.
With its pain relieving properties, CBD can allow sufferers to fully partake in a yoga practice and begin to reap the benefits the exercise can bring for their condition.
But whether you’re a yoga novice or a long-time practitioner, it’s not uncommon to suffer from aches and pains after a session.
Sore muscles after working out are often referred to as delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). This can happen if you change your routine, start a new exercise programme or increase the intensity of your workout.
CBD is a potent anti-inflammatory that can help ease these symptoms to get you back on the mat.
Allow for deeper postures
When our muscles are relaxed, it’s much easier to find those trickier poses we often aspire to.
Using topical CBD products or patches to target particularly troublesome areas of the body, may help you to find deeper postures and make your practice more enjoyable overall.
A 2016 animal study looked at the effect of the remedy, finding that topical gel reduced joint swelling with no significant side effects.
Topicals can also contain other soothing ingredients such as lavender or chamomile which could help to heal the muscles faster and encourage relaxation and good vibes on the mat.
Prolong feelings of ‘bliss’
CBD can also help to prolong the feelings of bliss obtained during Savasana.
When we feel good, our brain produces a neurotransmitter called Anandamide, which is broken down quickly in the body and so doesn’t offer a perpetual state of bliss.
CBD, however, has been found to suppress the enzymes that break down Anandamide, therefore creating longer lasting effects.
