"Cannabis is an industry whose legacy of skilled craftsmanship is often overlooked" - Jay-Z

Music industry legend Jay-Z has debuted the first range of products from his new cannabis line Monogram.

This is the first brand to come from the singer’s partnership with Californian-based cannabis firm Caliva, after taking on the role of chief visionary officer earlier this year.

Monogram has been in development for 18 months and is aiming to be California’s largest publicly traded cannabis company.

Currently, they are practicing careful strain selection, as well as honouring established growing and rolling techniques.

In a statement the American rapper said: “Cannabis has been around for thousands of years, yet it is still an industry whose legacy of skilled craftsmanship is often overlooked.

“I created Monogram to give cannabis the respect it deserves by showcasing the tremendous hard work, time and care that go into crafting a superior smoke. Monogram products are next level when it comes to quality and consistency and we’re just getting started.”

Monogram’s core range of products was launched this week, with their numbered strains being labeled as either ‘light’, ‘medium’ or ‘heavy’.

The OG Handroll gives a cigar-like experience, while the Loosies Preroll Pack contains four individually wrapped blunts.

The Flower comes in 2g and 4g jars with prices ranging from $40 to $70, using a batch-by-batch approach to maintain quality and control.

The organisation’s partnership with The Parent Company means they will be sharing their growing facility located in San Jose, California.

Jay-Z isn’t the first music figure to enter the cannabis industry.

Fellow rappers Snoop Dogg famously co-founded Leafs by Snoop in 2015, while Wiz-Khalifa has his own cannabis brand and strains.

Country singer and actor Willie Nelson is also a cannabis advocate, providing his own range of CBD products named ‘Willie’s Reserve’ since 2015.

Singer-turned-producer Will.i.am has also recently entered the CBD market, with his range of products recently hitting the UK.
